The State collected historical items from various clubs and club member. Items included a club history from 1949 to 2004, a 1969 article about a club's 75th anniversary and a 1970 article about Wyoming GFWC clubs calling for the preservation of Wyoming's clean air and water.

The State consolidated the past 20 years of GFWC Wyoming State Presidents reports for the State Archives and the State website.

GFWC Women's Civic League of Cheyenne - The Capital Avenue Louisa Swain Bronze Project GFWC WCLC participated in the Capital Avenue Bronze Project, a movement to place bronze statues on the corners of downtown. The club's Arts committee spearheaded this project. The subject of the bronze was determined -, Louisa Swain, the first woman in the United States to vote in a general election in honor of the Women's Suffrage Movement, which GFWC WCLC is a supporter of. The artist is John Baker. Harvey Deselms, curator for the Capital Avenue Bronze Project, helped to facilitate the arrangements for the artist and the placement. Funds were secured through grants, community donations and club allocations to the Arts committee. The project has impacted the entire town of Cheyenne, WY plus the half million visitors that travel to Cheyenne yearly. This statue represents the suffrage movement for women and the history of women in Wyoming, standing permanently on the corner of 21st and Carey Ave. GFWC WCLC has been a supporter of women's suffrage through it's GFWC affiliation. The club wanted to honor the history and impact Louisa Swain has had not only for women in Wyoming but nationwide. A time capsule was placed in her skirt at the time of installation that included the WCLC yearbook, a copy of that day's Wyoming Tribune Eagle (local newspaper), WCLC's Christmas House e-grams and the booklet $50 years of Christmas House (Christmas House is GFVE vCLE's fundraiser from wich much of the funds raise), and vcic's kaieidoscopes (the club's newsletter), a bill of sales and a treasurer's report. |
